Online Demo - Print Tracking / Print Management - Users Send Print Jobs to the Shared Printers on Windows / Unix / Linux Print Server (\\Printserver\Printer)

 

Step 1. On Windows print server, open "Devices and Printers", turn off "Render print jobs on client computers". In Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Services, restart the Print Spooler Service.

Download and extract the 30-day trial version of CZ Print Job Tracker, then double click czpjt-setup.exe to install the software.

Option 1 (recommended): Install CZ Print Job Tracker on your Windows print server        video    

Option 2: Install CZ Print Job Tracker on a computer that is not a Print Server e.g. \\CentralComputer        video

Option 1: Install CZ Print Job Tracker on your Windows print server

Step 2: In this demo, CZ Print Job Tracker is installed on \\PrintServer with three shared printers: TOSHIBA e-STUDIO4520C Series PCL6, Canon iR2200-3300 PCL6 and HP LaserJet 5000 Series PS.

Step 3. Click Start -> All Programs -> CZ Solution -> CZ Print Job Tracker 10 to run the software. If Preferences window doesn't appear, click menu Print Jobs -> Preferences.

Step 4. Click Refresh, select the printers you want to monitor in the list of "Available Local / Network Printers" and click Add to add them to the list of "Monitored Printers", click Save, and then click Exit.

Step 5.  In Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Services --> CZ Print Job Tracker, change the Local System Account to your account that is currently logged into this computer and with which you installed the CZ Print Job Tracker software, then restart the CZ Print Job Tracker service. If CZ Print Job Tracker is not listed in Services, click CZ Print Job Tracker menu Tools -> Install CZ Print Job Tracker service.

Note: If you want to use a different user account to run CZ Print Job Tracker service, login to the Windows with that user account, repeat above step 2 to step 5, then restart the CZ Print Job Tracker service. That user account must have administrator privileges to all network printers.

Step 6. All print jobs sent to these shared printers will be tracked.

Step 7. Click menu Print Jobs -> View Report or double click the shortcut "CZ Print Job Report 4.0" on the desktop to run CZ Print Job Report, then connect to the default database C:\Program Files\CZ Solution\CZ Print Job Tracker\PrintSaver.mdb.

Option 2: Install CZ Print Job Tracker on a computer that is not a Print Server e.g. \\CentralComputer

In this demo, there are two Windows print servers: printserver1 and printserver2.   Add network printers to the computer \\CentralComputer that has CZ Print Job Tracker installed.

Step 2. Click Start -> Devices and Printers.

Step 3. Click "Add a printer" button, and then click Next.

Step 4. Click the "A network printer...." option and follow the instructions on screen.

Step 5. The "network printer" icon will be added to your Devices and Printers folder.

Step 6. Click Start -> All Programs -> CZ Solution -> CZ Print Job Tracker 10 to run the software. If Preferences window doesn't appear, click menu Print Jobs -> Preferences.
